Garlic Green Beans with Toasted Almonds

A Christmas side dish is also very important and often neglected so I love to make sure mine are packed with flavour! Simple additions such as toasted almonds or lemon zest can really add to the textures and flavours. It’s a perfect way to get even the fussiest of eaters to eat their greens.

The Recipe

Ingredients

1 pack of green beans

2 tbsp of olive oil

3 garlic cloves, sliced

1 pinch of chilli flakes

sea salt and pepper

lemon zest and juice

20g of toasted almonds

Directions

Start by boiling a pot of water and add the green beans for 2 minutes then drain.

Add the oil and garlic to a pan and fry for a few minutes then add the green beans, salt, pepper, chilli flakes, lemon zest and fry for a few minutes until the beans go a little golden. 

Toast the almonds separately until slightly golden.

Top with a squeeze of lemon juice and the toasted almonds.
